The Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued an official statement on the criminal case related to the publication Taftish.uz. It was noted that this case is not against representatives of the media or social networks, but rather a legal assessment of the actions of certain individuals based on citizens' appeals.
It was reported that on January 16, 5 individuals associated with Taftish.uz were detained in a procedural manner. During the investigation, it was revealed that they had prepared videos that defamed citizens and demanded money in exchange for their publication or deletion.
In particular, unilateral and fabricated videos were posted on the activities of the Chilonzor commodity trading complex and the Black Plast LLC in Samarkand, and millions of soums were demanded to remove them. In some cases, contracts were concluded and threats were made to extort money from entrepreneurs.
It was also revealed that in a case related to a family quarrel in the Namangan region, videos that humiliated honor and dignity were distributed and money was received in exchange for their deletion.
Criminal cases have been initiated under the articles of the Criminal Code on defamation, fraud, robbery and dissemination of false information. The investigation is ongoing. The Ministry of Internal Affairs called on the victims to contact the Investigation Department.
