According to the ministry, the outages were mostly repair work in June, and anomalous heat in July. The mandatory cap amount increased by 5 times in July compared to the previous month, reaching a total of 210 million kWh since the beginning of summer. At the same time, records were set in terms of delivery volumes.
The Ministry of energy of Uzbekistan reported that in recent days “a complex situation has developed in the field of fuel and energy”. It is said that almost all regions of the country are forced to disconnect electricity at a certain time of the day.
In particular, in June, a mandatory limit of 34.8 million kWh was introduced in total, while this figure amounted to 175 million kWh over the past 31 days of July. A mandatory cap of 210 mln kWh has been applied in total since the transition to the summer season.
The ministry explained that in June, targeted deletions were carried out in a number of regions in order to safely carry out modernization and reconstruction work in the system. As a result, in the city of Tashkent alone, 542 transformer substations and 592.36 km of power transmission networks are perfect, 923 transformers and 702.3 kilometers of air network are under current repair. Also updated are 930.6 km low voltage power transmission networks and 228 transformer points
In July, however, it was mainly the overheating of the weather that made it difficult to supply electricity without interruption.
The ministry notes that not only Uzbekistan, an anomalous hot temperature has prevailed around the world, which is said by international experts to be “too hot” in July 2023, not observed in the last millennium. Strong hot temperatures, on the other hand, are causing the use of electricity to increase by a multiple for cooling purposes. As a result, the cables are burning, the transformers are failing. Eliminating the consequences of the accident is causing both a significant loss of funds and a significant loss of time.
It is explained that in order to avoid an accident, the most acceptable measure is to temporarily disconnect a number of apartments, budget organizations and business entities, forcibly deleting several fidders from the network. This will serve to prevent unforeseen emergency situations and save funds and time.
"Simply put, disconnecting a cable from the network for 2-3 hours in order to cool a cable that has overheated from the outside and from the inside due to overloading is a better solution than the subsequent burning of the cable and transformer and the fact that consumers remain without electricity for 10-12 hours.
True, the consumer is always right. In addition, it is our duty to provide you, the Saints with uninterrupted and stable electricity.
A lot of work is being done by system organizations in this regard. In particular, lately, the daily production average is 107.8 percent, the monthly production average is 106.2 percent, and the annual rate is 101.8 percent.
In recent days, a number of new production facilities – 2 power transmission networks with a voltage of 500 kW of a thermal station with a capacity of 1500 MW in Shirin, Syrdarya region, the ispaysoy micro – plant with a capacity of 200 kW in the Bostanlık district, as well as a new diamond substation providing electricity to more than 30 thousand households in Yashnabad district-were launched, “the Ministry of Energy Information said.
Officials noted that " consumption is just like that." For example, today the average consumption is estimated at 11,200 MW per day. Even at certain times of the day, mainly when the hot temperature reaches the peak, the electricity consumption is equal to the volume of electricity produced, sometimes the demand increases even more.
“This is also clearly confirmed by the fact that in the same month of July, a record figure was recorded twice in daily consumption. In particular, the total Republican consumption on July 12 was 247.5 million kWh, while on July 26 The Daily Record was renewed once more, reaching 250.7 million kWh.
However, in the current conditions, “Whatever I do, I will ensure continuity”, not taking the necessary precautions, not disconnecting from the network those areas that have begun to switch to overvoltage in the desire to achieve stability, realizing that an inevitable accident situation may occur, is also not a solution, but, on the contrary, will lead to a big problem,” the statement said.
The ministry called for strict adherence to energy conservation in such a situation, cooling not all rooms, but one in the rooms, sucking unused electrical equipment out of the network, turning off the light bulbs in cases of non-necessity, especially during the day.
” We ask our people to properly understand and support the mandatory measures implemented by the Ministry of energy and its system organizations in today's anomalous hot conditions, " the Ministry of energy of Uzbekistan concluded its official statement.
