There is a shortage of at least 3,500 teachers in Tajikistan.

Such figures for the academic year 2022-2023 were presented by the education departments of cities and regions of the republic.

This was announced during a press conference by a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan.

It is clarified that teachers of exact subjects, such as physics and mathematics, are most of all lacking.

The Ministry of Education reported that the total number of teachers in general educational institutions of the republic is more than 126.3 thousand people, of which 82 thousand are women.

The total number of students in Tajikistan is estimated at more than 2.2 million, of which 1.1 million are girls.

Meanwhile, the number of girls in general education institutions compared with boys has decreased by about 74,000 compared to last year.

The Ministry of Education and Science also assessed the quality of education in the country's schools.

In Khatlon, they announced an acute shortage of schools

According to the ministry, the development of educational programs is 99.8%, which is 0.2% more than in the same period of the previous academic year.

Also in 2022-2023, the number of general education institutions reached about 4 thousand, of which 301 are primary education, 431 are general and 3.2 thousand are secondary.

The number of institutions of the new type is 159, including 76 gymnasiums and 83 lyceums. The total number has increased by 27.
