The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ramazon Rahimzoda sent an urgent telegram to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev with a request to assist in considering the incidents that occurred in the Khabarovsk Territory of the Far East and in Moscow. This was reported by the press center of the ministry.
The telegram reads as follows: “In connection with the beating and torture of more than a hundred Tajik students of the State University of Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the Khabarovsk Territory of the Russian Far East and a raid by Russian authorities against Tajik migrants in the village of Kotelniki on the outskirts of Moscow and in other cities of Russia, we ask you to provide promoting an objective consideration of these events and taking them under personal control”.
Earlier, on May 24, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tajikistan, Umed Bobozoda, also urgently responded to the incident with the beating of Tajik students in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and sent a request to his Russian colleague Tatyana Moskalkova demanding to intervene in determining the causes of the illegal actions of law enforcement officers.
In addition, on May 24, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with the Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Semyon Grigoriev. At the meeting, the Ambassador was brought to the attention of the Tajik side's concern about the incoming information about mass detentions under various pretexts of citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Recall that early in the morning on May 19, law enforcement agencies and security forces of the Russian Federation conducted a raid among these students. While they were sleeping, they were severely beaten and taken to a pre-trial detention center.
This incident is being investigated by the relevant authorities of the Russian Federation.
