The police of the Maldives arrested the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Energy, Fatima Shamnaz Ali Salim, on suspicion of using black magic against the country's president, Mohamed Muizu. The minister participated in a magic ceremony to get closer to the president.
Witchcraft is not a crime in the Maldives, but is punishable by up to six months in prison under Sharia law.
