The Medical Knowledge I Learned for a Film Helped Me Save a Person’s Life — Amy Adams

Hollywood actress Amy Adams has revealed that she once helped save the life of a man who had suffered a severe knife wound. She shared the story during a recent podcast.

According to Adams, the incident happened in Santa Monica while she was walking back from a restaurant with her husband and friends. They came across a man who had been stabbed in the neck and decided to provide first aid until paramedics arrived.

Remaining calm, Adams applied pressure to the wound with beach towels to help stop the bleeding and urged the injured man not to move.

“The more you move, the faster you bleed. Just lie still,” the actress recalled telling him.

Adams said the basic medical knowledge that helped her in the emergency came from preparing for her role as nurse Alice Doherty in the 2004 television series Doctor Vegas.

She also revealed that about a year later, she unexpectedly met the same man again. He personally thanked her for saving his life and became emotional during the encounter.

Amy Adams is currently working on several new projects.
