The Louvre’s legendary Apollo Gallery welcomes visitors for the first time since the theft

France’s world-famous Louvre Museum has reopened its historic Apollo Gallery to visitors. However, the gallery has resumed operations with one major change — its valuable jewelry collection is no longer on display there.

According to Reuters, all precious exhibits from the Apollo Gallery, renowned for its lavish 17th-century interior, have been relocated to other, more secure areas of the museum to strengthen security. The decision followed a high-profile theft that took place on October 19, 2025.

During the incident, four criminals entered the Apollo Gallery, smashed the display cases, and stole eight valuable pieces of jewelry. Preliminary estimates put the damage at approximately €88 million.

As a result, while the Apollo Gallery has once again reopened to visitors, its most valuable exhibits are now displayed in the museum’s more secure sections.
