The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum has begun filming.
Warner Bros. has announced that filming has officially begun for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The studio also released the first behind‑the‑scenes footage featuring Andy Serkis. In the film, Serkis not only reprises his role as the ring‑obsessed Gollum (Sméagol) but also serves as director. Production is taking place in New Zealand, reuniting Serkis with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens. Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Elijah Wood (Frodo), and Lee Pace (King Thranduil) will return to their roles, while Kate Winslet, Jamie Dornan, Leo Woodall, and Anya Taylor‑Joy have joined the cast. The worldwide premiere is scheduled for December 17, 2027.
