From February, Almaty residents and guests of the southern capital of Kazakhstan will be able to fly to Kuala Lumpur four times a week
The largest low-cost airline in Southeast Asia will open regular flights to Kazakhstan, the Civil Aviation Committee reported.
“The committee, together with the Malaysian aviation authorities, worked on the issue of opening the Malaysian low-cost airline Air Asia X of regular passenger flights to Kazakhstan,” the department’s statement emphasizes.
Air Asia X plans to begin operating direct scheduled passenger flights on the route Kuala Lumpur - Almaty with a frequency of 4 flights per week from February 1, 2024, the committee added.
Kazakhstanis will be able to fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays on A-330 type aircraft with a capacity of 285 to 377 seats to the capital of Malaysia.
“The opening of air traffic between Kazakhstan and Malaysia will contribute to the further development of trade, economic, business, investment, tourism and cultural cooperation between the countries,” the department said.
Air Asia X was founded in 2006. Its fleet consists of about 270 aircraft of the A-320, A-320neo, A-321neo and A-330 types, the Civil Aviation Committee clarified.
The airliners in the company's colors operate flights on more than 400 routes to 25 countries (from Australia to the USA), the department recalled.
