The meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be held in Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed this information. "The meeting of the leaders of Turkey and Russia will soon be held in Russia," Peskov said briefly. The media reported that Erdogan and Putin will meet in Sochi on September 4. Peskov did not want to react to this news.
Earlier, there were reports that Putin will not go to Turkey to meet Erdogan. However, at the beginning of August, after the phone conversation between the two presidents, Erdogan announced that his Russian counterpart would go to Turkey for negotiations. However, the Kremlin did not confirm this information in the news about the conversation at that time.
According to Russian publications, the meeting between the two presidents will be held before the meeting of the "Big Twenty" in India. The official representative of the Turkish ruling party, Umar Celik Erdogan, confirmed that he will go to Sochi on September 4. "Since Mr. Putin cannot come to Turkey, our president will go to Russia. I can also tell you the date: Mr. Erdogan will go to Sochi on September 4," he said on the air of a local TV channel.
