The budget and foreign affairs committees of the European Parliament have approved a proposal to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine for reconstruction and modernization.

86 MPs supported the financial assistance, 6 MPs opposed it, and 2 MPs abstained. The statement of the European Parliament talks about "the need to urgently adopt an aid package in line with the long-term review of the EU budget."

The aid package will be included in the next year's annual budget. Negotiations on this budget will take place in November. One of the main demands of European MPs is the use of Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

"The proposed fund for Ukraine is part of the review of the EU's long-term budget, which needs to be adjusted since 2021, as it has been seriously reduced after multiple crises," the resolution said.

In addition, the members of the European Parliament demanded a fight against fraud, corruption, conflicts of interest and violations of the use of EU funds in Ukraine. The full composition of the European Parliament will vote on the project at the plenary session, which will take place on October 16-19.
