The Israel Defense Forces announced that Merad Abu Merad, the head of the Hamas Air Force, was killed in airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on October 13.
Merad Abu Merad was "responsible for leading the terrorists in Saturday's massacre," the Israel Defense Forces press service said.
It is noted that a high-ranking official of Hamas was killed as a result of the strikes of the Israeli army fighter jets on the operative headquarters in Gaza. Hamas has managed its air operations at this headquarters.
The Israel Defense Forces added that dozens of fighters from Hamas' Nuhba special forces were killed in "large-scale strikes" on the Gaza Strip on the night of October 14.
On the morning of October 13, it was reported that the Israeli Defense Forces ordered the citizens of Gaza to leave the north of the city. The UN has called for the cancellation of this order, noting that it is about the displacement of more than one million people. Earlier, it was announced that negotiations with the Hamas group will be possible only after Israel achieves its goals from the operation in Gaza.
