Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that he ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip. According to the minister, the supply of food and energy will be stopped there.
"I ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip. There is no electricity, no food, no gas, everything is closed," said Galant in his video message.
Energy Minister Israel Katz said the government is also cutting off water supplies to the Gaza Strip.
"I have ordered to stop the water supply from Israel immediately. Yesterday, the electricity and fuel supply was cut off," he wrote on his page on the X social network.
The war between Israel and Hamas began on the morning of October 7 when hundreds of rockets were fired into Israeli territory. More than 490 people were killed in the Gaza Strip. Israel reported more than 700 casualties.
According to The New York Times, Israeli intelligence did not know about the preparations for the attack, nor did Western intelligence agencies have any information. Today, on October 9, Israel announced that it has regained control over the cities near the Gaza Strip.
