The Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza Officially Opens — History Comes Alive

After twenty years of construction, the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, poised to become one of the largest archaeological centers in the world, has officially opened its doors. It is now the largest museum in Egypt and among the largest archaeological museums globally.

The $1 billion project houses approximately 50,000 artifacts, spanning millennia of Ancient Egyptian history.

Among the highlights are the over 3,200-year-old statue of Pharaoh Ramesses II and the complete collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures, displayed together for the first time since the tomb’s discovery nearly a century ago.

Egyptian officials expect the museum to become a major tourist hub, with projections of around 30 million visitors by 2030 from across the globe.

The opening ceremony was a grand international event, attended by heads of state, representatives of royal families, and cultural figures.

This milestone not only celebrates Egypt’s rich heritage but also honors humanity’s fascination with one of the world’s most enduring civilizations.
