The first medals of Tajik athletes at the II Games of the CIS countries in Belarus

Athletes from Tajikistan won their first medals at the II Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Athletes in such sports as judo and Greco-Roman wrestling have replenished our piggy bank, correspondents of NIAT Khovar from Minsk report.

The opening ceremony of the Games took place on the evening of 5 August.

Athletes, members of official delegations, fans and spectators got a unique opportunity to see one of the largest events in Belarus.

The parade of athletes from the participating countries of the Games and the hoisting of the flags of Belarus and the CIS by Belarusian Olympic champions were presented at one of the main venues in Minsk - the Minsk Arena.

All performances of artists were accompanied by innovative technologies and unusual artistic solutions.

The sporting event was accompanied by mass choreographic numbers from each of the 23 countries and original musical compositions that set the tone for the entire celebration.

Congratulating those present on the start of the Games, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko thanked the leaders of the CIS states and other countries for their trust and worthy participation.

“These Games have a great future, which is in our hands. They personify the sports brotherhood, sport unites real friends. The slogan of the Games is “Strong character – bright game”, it is not only about sports, but about each of us,” Alexander Lukashenko said, wishing the athletes victories and good luck.

Athletes who participated in the opening ceremony shared their views on their participation in the Games.

“We are a team of Tajikistan in bullet shooting, we are four people. From August 6 to 9 we will compete with representatives of other states. We hope for good results and will try to adequately represent our country,” said Anora Logutenko.

In athletics Tajikistan is represented by 12 athletes.

As Yasmina Iskandarova told correspondents of NIAT "Khovar" in an interview, the competitions for them began on August 4.

“The first days of the competition were very difficult, very strong rivals, but we hope to win,” the girl said.

The spectacular end of the ceremony was the lighting of the symbolic fire of the II Games of the CIS countries.
