The production of gold, silver and aluminum in Tajikistan in the first half of 2023 was negatively affected by falling prices in the world market. Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic Sherali Kabir told journalists about this.

“Gold production [in the six months of 2023] is 3.8% less than last year,” the minister said.

In the first half of this year, 37% more silver was produced in Tajikistan than in the same period last year, but there was a decline in monetary terms.

“For the first time, it happens that world prices have fallen sharply for gold and other raw metals that we produce, but we hope that these are temporary factors,” the minister explained.

According to the agency, the volume of production in the mining sector for the reporting period amounted to 95.2% of the level of the first half of 2022.

“We have not been able to increase the potential that exists in the industry. This industry has always been key, and we need to increase those volumes that correspond to our plans,” said Kabir.

According to him, the level of production at the aluminum enterprises of the republic in the first half of 2023 increased by 0.2%. At the same time, in monetary terms, due to the fall in aluminum prices, production decreased.
