M. Mavlonqulov, the director of the Khudoyar-khan Palace museum-reserve in Kokand, received a formal reprimand for allowing an entertainment event to take place on the premises without coordinating with the Cultural Heritage Agency.
On October 3, an event titled "Chopon Pati" was held in the palace courtyard, involving a group of women. After videos of the event circulated on social media, the Cultural Heritage Agency investigated the situation.
According to the Agency, events held at state museums and museum-reserves must be coordinated with the Agency in accordance with established procedures. As the Khudoyar-khan Palace is a cultural heritage site, its historical character and preservation requirements must be respected. Consequently, the director was issued a formal reprimand for failing to properly perform his official duties, in accordance with the Labor Code.
The Agency announced that it would strengthen oversight regarding events held at cultural heritage sites in the future.
