It was found that the Bai-bulok cave in Surkhandarya region is deeper. It is the deepest cave in Asia.
On August 20, 2023, the international speleological expedition to Boy-Buloq cave ended with the discovery of another record depth in Asia. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology.

It is noted that the expedition of 33 speleologists from Russia, the Czech Republic and Taiwan led by Vadim Loginov found that the depth of the cave is 1517 m and its length is 17 km. The previous indicator was 1430 m and 15.2 km.

Boy-Buloq is the deepest cave in Asia, located in Surkhandarya region, 60 km from Boysun city. Today, it is the 12th deepest cave in the world.

"The first research of the cave was started in 1985, it is technically difficult to get into it and it is classified as 5+. The main obstacles are internal "wells" up to 180 m deep, narrow vertical meanders, semi-siphons (passages filled with water), etc., said speleotourism veteran Vladimir Dolgiy.

"It is noteworthy that the cave develops not only to a depth of 1158 m, but also to a height of 359 m. This means that the total amplitude is 1517 m. But this is not the end, because the cave continues. "Unfortunately, due to the expiration of the expedition, further research was stopped," he added.

It is noted that the passages of the Boy-Buloq cave lead to another cave named after A. Vishnevsky at a depth of 1283 m. The potential connection of the two caves is 2,033 m deep and about 30 km long, making it the third deepest cave in the world.

In order to reach the record depth, it is planned to continue research in the Boy-Buloq and A. Vishnevsky caves next year.
