The death toll in Makhachkala currently stands at 27 people, 66 were injured, the Dagestan Center for Disaster Medicine reported.
The day of mourning was declared in Dagestan on August 15 in connection with the death of people as a result of an explosion at a gas station on the outskirts of Makhachkala, follows from the decree of the head of the republic Sergey Melikov, the text of which is available to RIA Novosti.
"To declare August 15, 2023 a day of mourning in the Republic of Dagestan. On the day of mourning on the entire territory of the Republic of Dagestan, lower the State flags of the Russian Federation, the State Flags of the Republic of Dagestan, the flags of municipalities of the Republic of Dagestan," the document says.
The Government of the Republic has been instructed to take the necessary measures to provide assistance to the families of the victims and the injured.

More than 100 people were injured as a result of an explosion at a gas station in Makhachkala, the head of the region Sergey Melikov said at a meeting of the operational headquarters.
"One hundred and two people sought medical help. At 06.00 (Moscow time), 65 people are in medical institutions, 11 of them are children," the head of the republic said.
Three of the 27 people killed in the explosion at the gas station in Makhachkala are children, he said.
"27 people were killed, three of them children," Melikov said.
The Minister of Health of Dagestan, Tatyana Belyaeva, said that the identities of all the victims have not yet been established.

The death toll as a result of an explosion at a gas station in Makhachkala has increased to 27, the Dagestan Center for Disaster Medicine reported.
"At the moment, 27 people have died," the report says.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health of Dagestan, as a result of the incident, 12 people were killed, among them two children, 56 people were injured, including 13 children.
At the same time, the First Deputy Minister of Health of Russia Viktor Fisenko, who arrived in Dagestan, later said that 66 victims were in medical institutions in Makhachkala, 10 of them in serious condition.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact, according to the website of the regional SSC.
"The investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Dagestan have opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence)," the message says.
According to investigators, on the evening of August 14, a fire and subsequent cotton occurred during the work in the building of the car service station at the intersection of Kulinskaya Street in the village of Novokuli and the Federal Highway, as a result of which people were injured and killed. Nearby buildings and cars were also damaged.
It is noted that investigative actions are being carried out to establish the perpetrators and all the circumstances of the incident.

Two tanks out of eight exploded at a gas station in Makhachkala, there is a high risk of repeated fires, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan reports.
"Our people, despite the danger, taking risks, are trying to enter the territory in order to help the victims. But there is a great risk of repeated fires. According to available information, only two of the eight tanks exploded. The risk is very high," the report says.
The death toll in the emergency in Makhachkala at the moment is five people, ten more were injured, said the head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov.
"According to the Dagestan Center for Disaster Medicine, five people were killed, 10 were injured. On my instructions, the Secretary of State of the Republic, the Mayor of Makhachkala, the head of the EMERCOM of Russia for RD and the Minister of Health are on site. Rescuers, medics and special equipment are working," Melikov wrote in his telegram channel.
He urged to refrain from spreading unverified information and not to travel unnecessarily towards the scene of the incident, so as not to interfere with the work of emergency services.
