The Cultural Heritage Agency Responds to Alisher Qodirov’s Statements

The Cultural Heritage Agency has issued an official response to statements made by Alisher Qodirov, Chairman of the "Milliy Tiklanish" (National Revival) Democratic Party, regarding the condition of cultural heritage sites and the state's approach to them.

It is noted that Alisher Qodirov raised several questions on his Telegram channel concerning the state of cultural heritage sites such as Sarmishsoy, Shah-i-Zinda, and Mizdakhkan. Specifically, he sought clarification on issues including the neglect of certain areas of Sarmishsoy despite significant financial investment; the impact of a nearby road on the Shah-i-Zinda complex; the preservation conditions of an ancient Quran manuscript in Bukhara; and the usage of areas containing heritage sites dating back to the Davon era. Qodirov also emphasized the need for a detailed parliamentary report on the expenditure of funds allocated for the preservation of cultural heritage sites.

The Agency stated that while it does not shy away from criticism or questions, any criticism, facts, or claims raised in public discourse should be verified against official documentation. Accordingly, the Agency announced that it would provide information regarding specific figures, decisions, and work undertaken concerning the issues raised by Qodirov.
