The Central Bank is issuing gold and silver coins dedicated to the Chess Olympiad.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan is issuing gold and silver commemorative coins dedicated to the 46th World Chess Olympiad, which is being held in Samarkand.
The coins feature architectural elements of the Tillya-Kori Madrasah in Samarkand alongside chess pieces. When placed side by side, the gold and silver coins form a complete image of the portal of Registan Square.
Both coins are minted from 999.9 purity gold or silver. They weigh 31.1 grams and have a face value of 100,000 soums.
Initially, 100 gold coins and 500 silver coins are being issued; the mintage volume may be increased depending on demand.
