Kyrgyzstan has a six-month ban on the export of wheat flour and wheat food grain. Officials claim that this decision was made in order to ensure food security and stabilize market prices for food. The document came into force on September 25.
Kyrgyzstan is not the main importer of wheat and grain to Uzbekistan.
“In fact, many countries are trying to ensure food security in their countries using this method and maintain balance until the new harvest is ready. Since the share of exports of wheat and grain products from Kyrgyzstan on the Uzbekistan market is practically insignificant, we can assume that this will not have a negative impact on the market and its price fluctuations,” the ministry said.
It was added that over the past 8 months, 1.5 thousand tons of wheat were imported from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan.
