Tesla transformer and the radiation of gases

Under the influence of a Tesla transformer, pure gases - hydrogen, nitrogen, neon, helium and krypton - emit unique colors. This radiation is associated with the transitions of electrons in energy levels. Nitrogen glows only in a strong electric field near the transformer. Neon and helium, on the other hand, emit light even at lower voltages and are visible even at a distance. Krypton, on the other hand, produces unusual oscillations and effects in the Tesla field.
