Two former Tesla employees are involved in a data breach that compromised the personal information of more than 75,000 people, including staff, the electric car company said in a statement.
Data exposed in the hack has been leaked to German media outlet Handelsblatt, Steven Ellentuch, Tesla's data privacy officer, said in a submission to the Maine Attorney General's office.
Tesla said in a statement that Handelsblatt informed the automaker that it had received sensitive information containing personal data, including names, addresses, phone numbers and social security numbers.
The company identified the leaked employees, filed lawsuits against them and seized their devices.
In April, groups of Tesla employees were reported to have privately shared customer information, including videos and images recorded with car cameras, via internal messaging systems.
