Teen Who Attacked His Own School in Ufa Says He Only Wanted to Scare Others

A ninth-grade student who carried out an attack at a school in Ufa said he did not intend to harm anyone and only wanted to scare people. During classes, he opened fire with an airsoft gun. The teenager shot toward a teacher and several classmates and also set off firecrackers in the school corridors.

During the incident, a 56-year-old homeroom teacher sustained minor injuries. No other casualties were reported.

The student was detained without resistance. A knife was also found on him during the search. According to investigators, the 15-year-old had been preparing for the attack for several weeks. He said he acted because he felt pressure from his classmates and wanted to frighten them and show that he could defend himself.

A criminal case has been opened, and possible negligence by responsible persons is also being investigated.
