Tashkent Officials Explain Why the Road on Glinka Street Collapsed

It has been established that the collapse of the road surface on Glinka Street in Tashkent’s Yakkasaray district was caused by gas leaking from an underground gas pipeline.

According to the city administration, gas leaking from a 219 mm-diameter pipeline accumulated in a heating network chamber, creating an emergency situation. An inspection found gas leaks at several points across an area of approximately 375 square centimeters of the pipeline.

Earlier, utility services, including Hududgaz Poytaxt, had stated that the incident was not related to the natural gas network.

One person was injured in the incident, and several vehicles were damaged. Specialists are currently investigating the causes of the incident. The street will be reopened to traffic after the road surface is restored.

A criminal case has been opened over the incident.
