Tashkent Becomes a Regional Leader in Gender Equality

Today, November 12, Tashkent is hosting the Central Asian Women Leaders’ Dialogue — a regional continuation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted 30 years ago.

Uzbekistan is now taking a leading role in Central Asia in protecting women’s rights and promoting equality. Recent reforms clearly demonstrate this progress:

• Adoption of the Gender Equality Strategy until 2030;

• Thousands of women are engaged in entrepreneurship;

• University quotas for female students have been expanded;

• Legal protections against domestic violence have been strengthened.

This dialogue is not just a meeting — it’s a platform where women’s voices are heard and new ideas and opportunities are born.

At the end of the event, the signing of the Central Asian Women’s Declaration is expected, which will outline a clear roadmap for advancing gender equality in the region.

Today, Uzbekistan is not only the host country, but also a nation that believes in women’s potential and actively supports their empowerment.
