Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Norboyeva received Senator-Democrat Gary Peters, a member of the Senate of the US Congress. This was reported by the press service of the upper house of the parliament.
It was reported that the meeting discussed a wide range of Uzbek-US cooperation, in particular, issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, development of cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, labor relations, and gender equality.
During the conversation, attention was also paid to the issues of economic cooperation. It was noted that the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, which includes 38 leading companies, makes a significant contribution to strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership, and the volume of trade in January-July 2023 amounted to $321.5 million. Opinions were exchanged on the expansion of investment cooperation and strengthening of relations between the business circles of the two countries.
It was also agreed to consistently continue cooperation in the field of labor relations, to create decent working conditions, and to hold constant consultations on issues such as the introduction of international standards in the field of labor.
As part of the "Central Asia-USA" C5+1 dialogue, the International Forum of Businesswomen, which will be held next year with the American side (USAID) in the C5+1 format, in which the issues of active participation of businesswomen were also discussed.
"Provision of human rights, issues of freedom of belief and speech were also in the center of special attention. "At the end of the dialogue, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas," the report said.
On August 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Gary Peters, the chairman of the National Security and Governmental Affairs Committee of the US Senate. Issues of further strengthening of strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and the USA were discussed at the meeting.
