XIX Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8 in China, in Zhejiang province. More than 100 athletes will represent Tajikistan there, the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan said.
It is expected that a record number of athletes will participate in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou (PRC).
More than 12,500 athletes have been registered by 45 National Olympic Committees, members of the Olympic Council of Asia, to participate in the Games.
This year's program includes 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 483 types of competitions. It is worth noting that for the first time the Games will host eSports and breakdance competitions.
Tajikistan will be represented by esportsmen from the following disciplines: Dream of three kingdoms 2, FIFA 23 and Arena of Valor.
Competitions will be held at 54 tournament venues in Hangzhou and 5 cities in Zhejiang Province - Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing and Huzhou.
The team of 6 National Olympic Committees, including China, Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India and Hong Kong, has more than 600 athletes.
Athletes from 43 National Olympic Committees will take part in athletics competitions. More than 300 athletes are registered in 11 sports, including athletics, water sports and fencing.
XIX Asian Games were to be held in Hangzhou from 10 to 25 September 2022. However, due to the increase in the number of cases of infection with COVID-19 of the Omicron type in China, it was decided to postpone them to this fall. This decision was taken by the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
The Asian Games have been held under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia every 4 years since 1951. Tajikistan has been participating in them since 1994 and has since won 27 medals. Of these, 4 gold, 6 silver and 17 bronze.
