State Institution "Republican Center for the Protection of the Population from Tuberculosis" of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan with financial support from the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit within the framework of the project "Creation of an integrated primary health care system in Tajikistan (BaSIC)” donated sets of medical and non-medical equipment.
It is intended to strengthen the integrated TB services in the PHC structures of the pilot districts.
The project "BaSIC - Creation of an Integrated Primary Health Care System in Tajikistan" is co-funded by the EU and BMZ and implemented by GIZ.
The BaSIC project actively contributes to improving access to and quality of delivery of integrated primary health care services. The project covers 28 districts and combines four deliverables. As part of the support to beneficiaries (in selected PHC centers), the project provided the necessary medical equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards.
The BaSIC project is part of the Health Development Program of the European Union in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period 2021-2025.
For the past two years, the BaSIC project has been working to strengthen PHC structures by integrating tuberculosis (TB) services in PHC centers in selected pilot districts (Rudaki, Vose, Khorog and Kukhistoni Mastchokh).
A series of training courses on diagnosis and treatment of TB, in line with the latest WHO recommendations, are currently being conducted to improve the knowledge of healthcare workers in selected areas.
To ensure early detection and treatment of TB, the project provided the necessary equipment to PHC facilities in the above-mentioned districts. Such activities not only lead to improved PHC services, but also ensure the access of the population to medical services, especially in rural areas of Tajikistan.
The project procured office equipment such as computers, printers, first aid kits, blood pressure monitors, desks and chairs, electric heaters and personal protective equipment.
It is expected that these activities will contribute to the further development of the integration of the TB sphere with PHC facilities.
