Experts from the Commonwealth countries carefully studied all the initiatives proposed by the CIS members, and eventually agreed on a draft agreement
The countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) continue to actively work on the implementation of the idea of creating an International Organization for the Russian Language.
Thus, a meeting of a special group was held at the headquarters of the CIS, dedicated to the process of preparing the Treaty on the establishment of this organization, as well as its Charter.
Experts from Tajikistan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan participated in this event online.
The experts carefully studied all the initiatives proposed by the CIS members, and eventually agreed on a draft agreement. However, in order to reach a full consensus, it was decided to hold an additional meeting of the group, scheduled for September 5th.
The proposal to establish the International Organization for the Russian Language was first announced by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, in December 2021. This proposal found wide support at the CIS summit held in October 2022, which was held in Astana.
How to improve the teaching of the Russian language in the CIS countries and get young people interested in it?
The goal of the International Organization for the Russian Language will be to support and promote the Russian language in the CIS region. This structure will contribute to the preservation and development of the Russian language as an important factor in cultural interaction and communication.
Earlier, the head of the Human Rights Council, Valery Fadeev, called for the opening of state institutions in which foreign children can learn Russian. Training is supposed to be carried out at the expense of budgetary funds.
