Tajikistan may increase trade with China to $3 billion

According to Emomali Rahmon, last year's growth in trade between the two countries shows a positive trend

Tajikistan can bring trade with China up to $3 billion in the near future, President Emomali Rahmon said during his visit to Beijing.

Thus, at a meeting with the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Li Qiang, the head of state said that the mutual trade turnover between the countries is "progressively growing."

"Last year it increased by almost 40%. In the first quarter of this year, we note its positive dynamics. This gives serious reasons to believe that in the near future we can achieve the goal of bringing trade to $3 billion," the president stressed.

Rahmon noted during the conversation that over the past decade, the Tajik-Chinese relations of strategic partnership have reached a qualitatively new level.

This is an example of good neighborliness, sincere friendship and mutual support.

He also added that with the support of the Chinese government, a number of large infrastructure projects have been implemented in Tajikistan in recent years.

"They had a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the country and the creation of new jobs," the head of state specified.

At the end, Emomali Rahmon also expressed interest in further active cooperation in the implementation of joint projects in the field of "green" and digital economy.
