Farmers in the Bobojon-Gafurov district of the Sughd region have lost over a thousand hectares of land where cotton was grown. This was stated by the head of the region Nusratullo Salimzoda at a press conference.

According to him, initially 8.2 thousand hectares of cotton were sown. Part of the crop was lost due to drought and lack of water in the Khojabokirgan stream, from which the territories are irrigated.

"Losses were recorded in the farms of Jabbor Rasulov, Rahmon Nabiev, Urumkhojaev, as well as the farms of the Khistevarz Ovchikalacha district," the official specified.

At the same time, Salimzoda added, the farmers are trying to fulfill the plan.

He also added that Khodjabokirgan also passes through the territory of Kyrgyzstan. During the meetings, the neighboring republic also complains about the lack of water in the stream to irrigate crop areas.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan reported that cotton was sown in the country on an area of 175.7 thousand hectares, which is 94.5%.

In Sogd, the sowing plan is almost completed. There, "white gold" is located on an area of ​​more than 50 thousand hectares.
