The Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan announced the problem of an acute shortage of doctors and junior medical personnel

Health care institutions in Tajikistan lack doctors and nurses.

This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Health of the Republic Jamoliddin Abdullozoda during the reporting press conference.

According to him, the country lacks nearly 2,300 doctors and 575 nurses.

So, in particular, 49 and 35 rates are free in Dushanbe, respectively.

According to the minister, the shortage of doctors in the Khatlon region is 788 people, while the issue of staffing hospitals and polyclinics with junior medical personnel has been completely resolved.

Sughd needs 579 doctors and 54 nurses, and there are 412 and 319 vacancies in the regions of republican subordination.

In addition, there is a shortage of 149 doctors and 67 nurses in private institutions, the Minister of Health added.

Tajik Medical University will accept more students

Earlier, the head of Khatlon pointed out that there is an acute shortage of hospitals and qualified specialists in the region.

Meanwhile, the Tajik State Medical University raised the threshold for the number of students admitted.

This academic year, the walls of the institution intend to accept 500 more applicants than in 2022.
