Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Khokim Kholikzoda met with the new President of the Interstate Bank of the CIS countries Andrey Lipin.
This was reported by the press service of the regulator.
At the beginning of the meeting, Khokim Khalikzoda congratulated Andrey Lipin on his appointment to a responsible position and wished him success.
"During the talks, the parties discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, as well as the expansion of transactions and settlements in national currencies," the source states.
The press service of the regulator noted that Holikzoda and Liping also discussed the process of making swap transactions, which involve the conclusion of a contract for the exchange of assets with a subsequent return on predetermined conditions.
Tajikistan increases trade in rubles
Recall that Tajikistan actively uses national currencies in mutual settlements with major trading partners. So, about 50% of settlements in trade with Russia are in rubles.
The Interstate Bank has direct access to the national payment systems of 6 countries: Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
