The Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan has intensified work on the inclusion of historical and cultural monuments in the UNESCO World Heritage List

Tajikistan has expressed a desire to add to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.

This was stated by the Minister of Culture of the Republic Zulfiya Davlatzoda.

It is noted that a number of the country's attractions will be included in this rating as early as September 2023.

Monuments of history and culture of the Zarafshan-Karakum corridor of the Great Silk Road will become part of the world cultural heritage.

According to the Ministry of Culture, there are 9 monuments in the valley.

"In addition, by the end of 2023, the Ferghana-Syr Darya corridor of the Great Silk Road will also be nominated for inclusion," the ministry said.

The Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan stressed that activities are underway to include the Khulbuk fortress on the World Heritage List.

The archive of the Office of the Emir of Bukhara was included in the UNESCO "Memory of the World" list

Since 2021, the process of adding the Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor of the Great Silk Road to the UNESCO World Heritage List has been underway.

Recall that two sites in Tajikistan went through the entire procedure and were included in the main UNESCO World Heritage List: the settlement of Sarazm as a cultural site (2010) and the Tajik National Park as a natural site (2013).
