The authorities of Tajikistan warned the World Trade Organization about new restrictions regarding the import of vehicles into the country.
This was reported by the press service of the Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology.
Thus, cars manufactured before 2013 were banned, noted KazStandart.
“Tajikistan has prepared a decree aimed at preventing the import of old cars, which are a major source of air pollution and harm to human health and the environment, as well as a significant increase in the amount of waste (batteries, tires, air conditioners) from old cars,” the institute reported.
It is clarified that the decree comes into force on January 1, 2024.
Import of cars will be banned in Tajikistan - details
Let us remind you that the Tajik authorities have already issued a decree banning the import of old cars into the territory of the republic.
They explained this need by the fact that vehicles that are faulty due to their service life can cause accidents on the roads.
