Over the past 5 years, the number of deaths among mothers, children, and low-income families has significantly decreased in the republic
Maternal mortality has decreased in Tajikistan.
This was stated by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavki Zavkizoda at a high-level political forum in New York.
Also, the number of deaths has decreased among children and poor families, he said.
According to him, over the past five years, the mortality of mothers and children has decreased by 70% and 36%, respectively.
During his speech, he also emphasized that during this period the number of registered TB patients and those infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) decreased by 26% and 19.5%, respectively.
Zavkizoda noted that in order to create a reliable system of social protection, a program of targeted assistance has been launched, a single national information register of low-income families and the disabled has been created.
"The implementation of such measures made it possible to reduce the poverty rate from 31% in 2015 to 22.5% in 2022," the minister said.
More than 19 billion somoni has been allocated to support socially vulnerable groups of the population.
Earlier, the Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan, Gulnora Khasanzoda, said that the poverty rate in the republic has decreased by 0.9% over the past two years.

Meanwhile, the total number of low-income families in Tajikistan has reached more than 224,500 people.
