As part of the state visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani to the Republic of Tajikistan in Dushanbe, a Memorandum was signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of protection of wild animals and their natural habitat, NIAT "Khovar" reports with reference to Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The memorandum expands cooperation between the two states in the field of environmental protection, including the protection of wildlife and endangered plants, environmental protection, the breeding of falcons, the exchange of strategy and experience in environmental legislation related to regulated hunting, and the control of their quotas.
Recall that the falcon (Falco peregrinus) is a bird of prey (from the falcon family - Falconidae), the body length is 40-50 cm, and the weight is 500-1000 grams.
In Tajikistan, this bird can be found on the Gissar, Babatag, Oktog ridges and in the areas adjacent to them.
The falcon has been tamed in Central Asia since ancient times as a hunting bird. With the help of this bird, locals hunt moose, foxes, rabbits, partridges and other animals. The falcon is a rare bird and is included in the International Red Book of Rare and Endangered Animals.
