Tajik State Medical University increased the number of students admitted by 500 people

In order to solve the existing problems in health care related to the lack of specialists, this year the Tajik State Medical University increased the number of students admitted by 500 people. This was said today at a press conference at this university, NIAT "Khovar" reports.

According to the rector of the university, if 1,500 students were admitted last year, this figure has been increased to 2,000 this year.

“In particular, the enrollment of applicants at such faculties as pediatrics has been increased, there are not enough pediatricians in the republic, as well as for preventive medicine, because solving problems, such as COVID-19, shows that there are few specialists in this area. In addition, in order to increase the list of medicines made from local herbs and resources, the number of applicants at the Faculty of Pharmacy has increased,” said the head of the university.

In general, today the number of students at the medical university is 12301 people.

In the first half of 2023, the number of foreign students amounted to 1936 people from 23 countries, including 1918 people at the pre-graduation stage, 6 people at the post-graduate scientific stage, and 12 people at the post-graduate medical stage.

Education at the university is conducted in three languages - Tajik, Russian and English.
