His ribs are broken, he was taken by helicopter to Dushanbe
Rescuers of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of Tajikistan completed an operation to rescue a Belarusian citizen who fell in the mountains.
“On the evening of July 21, after complex search and rescue activities that lasted for two days, the rescuers of the CoES transported the injured climber, a 36-year-old citizen of Belarus, to Dushanbe by helicopter,” Umeda Yusufi, head of the CoES press center, told Asia-Plus.
According to her, at the Ayni airport, the climber was met by the doctors of the Military Hospital of the CoES and he was taken by ambulance to the Istiklol hospital in the capital. "The condition of the climber is assessed as medium-heavy," she said.
Yusufi recalled that the rescuers, having arrived on July 20 at the glade of Moskvin in the Lyakhsh district on an aircraft of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tatarstan, reached the place of the climber's fall on foot, covering 10 km. On the spot, they provided him with first aid, transferred him to a special stretcher, fixing him, and began to climb to the helipad.
“The Belarusian climber planned to climb Ismoil Somoni alone, which is contrary to safety precautions when in the highlands. As a result, on July 19, while trying to climb, the climber fell from a height and fell into a crevice. As a result of the fall, he received a fracture of three ribs and damage to the internal organs of varying degrees,” said Umeda Yusufi.
As for the British citizens who also fell off the mountains on July 20, Umeda Yusufi said that the rescuers are still on their way to the British, but are constantly in contact with the affected foreigners via satellite. Earlier, she reported that two tourists - British citizens, 67-year-old Michael Alan Fouiler and 60-year-old Simon Andrev Yates, asked for help via satellite phone: while conquering the Patkhor peak in the Shugnan region of GBAO, they fell from a height and suffered. Immediately, by order of the head of the CoES, Rustam Nazarzoda, a group of 10 rescuers from the GBAO Department was mobilized and sent to Patkhor Peak to provide assistance to injured tourists.
“Since it is not possible to climb this height with a helicopter, the rescuers of the CoES, using horses and special equipment, go on foot to the place where the tourists fell,” said Umeda Yusufi.
