Supercontracts may be abolished in Uzbek medical universities

According to a draft resolution submitted for public discussion by the Ministry of Health, starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, the admission of students to medical universities in Uzbekistan on the basis of supercontracts will be suspended.

A 6-year bachelor's degree in "general medicine" will also be introduced, based on the directions of "medical work" and "pediatrics". Graduates will work as family doctors.

Starting from January 1, 2027, mandatory working hours have been established for students who have received a state grant and passed a special exam:

🔹 Primary medical institutions (Karakalpakstan and regions) - 1,500 hours
🔹 District/city (except for Tashkent city) - 2,000 hours
🔹 Regional level institutions - 2,500 hours
🔹 Tashkent city and republican level institutions - 3,000 hours

Minimum passing score in educational modules and state exams: 70% for doctors, 60% for secondary medical staff.
