The meeting of Presidents of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will be held in Ashgabat on August 4. This was reported by the official newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".
The edition does not specify the program of the summit. According to Yury Aronsky, Chairman of the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan, the meeting may consider the development of economic relations between the three states, their cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, education and science. “It will also be relevant to consider the issues of further development of transport corridors, primarily railways, and facilitation of trade procedures between countries, in particular, we can talk about increasing the throughput and volumes of container traffic, creating joint terminals for the transportation and storage of goods,” TASS reports. .
As the newspaper writes, interaction in the transport, water energy and environmental fields occupies an important place in Turkmen-Tajik relations. The efforts of the two countries are aimed at creating a powerful and modern infrastructure that ensures the unification of the transport systems of Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Much attention is paid to improving the activities of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
In the context of Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation, the publication recalls the automobile and railway bridges across the Amu Darya. They open a direct outlet for cargo flows from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and South Asia to the Caspian Sea and further to the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions, the countries of Europe, the Transcaucasus, and the Middle East.
The newspaper recalls that construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway is underway in Turkmenistan. After docking with the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway, it will open a direct access to the seaport of Turkmenbashi. This will raise the transit opportunities of Central Asia to a qualitatively new level, expand access to world markets, ensure an influx of investments and create new conditions for economic growth, the publication believes.
