Sudanese military plane crashes into houses

On February 25, an Antonov plane belonging to the Sudanese army crashed in a residential area north of the city of Omdurman due to a technical malfunction. More than 40 people, including soldiers and civilians, were killed. The injured were taken to hospital. The Sudanese army said the plane crashed while taking off from an airbase. Firefighters extinguished the fire at the crash site. Search efforts are currently underway to find survivors from the rubble. Witnesses said several houses in the area where the plane crashed were damaged.
