Study: Crying at work may be good for your health
Scientists have found that crying at work can help reduce stress and allow the body to recover more quickly.
According to the research, a person's breathing and heart rate return to normal faster after crying. In contrast, people who try to suppress their emotions tend to experience elevated breathing and heart rate for a longer period.
The survey also found that 8 out of 10 employees have cried at work at least once, while nearly half said it had happened to them more than once. In most cases, the tears were triggered by rude behavior or excessive pressure from colleagues or managers.
Experts conclude that constantly suppressing emotions may reduce motivation and workplace productivity. In some situations, crying is a natural way to relieve stress and recover more quickly. For this reason, employers are encouraged to create a healthy work environment where employees feel comfortable expressing their emotions.
