Student protests in France have intensified, leading to the temporary suspension of public transport in some cities. Students are staging demonstrations outside schools to express their dissatisfaction with teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms, class schedules, and overheated classrooms.
On October 1, 1,949 people were detained across the country, and 305 police officers and gendarmes were injured. According to official figures, 1,027 educational institutions were affected by protest-related activities, with blockades reported at 222 of them.
In some areas, protesters set fire to trash bins and blocked roads and transport routes. Clashes with police also occurred near some schools.
The French government has condemned the violence. At the same time, Education Minister Édouard Geffray announced that he would hold a meeting on October 2 with representatives of students, parents, trade unions, and student organizations.
