Starting today, you cannot buy medicines from pharmacies without a doctor's prescription.

From December 12, the DMED electronic prescription system will be launched in Uzbekistan. Now all prescription drugs will be sold only on the basis of a digital prescription. The doctor issues a prescription through the DMED system, and the patient receives the medicine at the pharmacy using an ID or QR code. The system does not allow forgery or alteration of prescription data.
According to the rules, antibiotics, hormonal and psychotropic drugs, as well as all drugs marked “by prescription” in the instructions, are issued only with a digital prescription.
This procedure was introduced in order to ensure controlled dispensing of drugs, limit the uncontrolled sale of antibiotics, and align them with international standards. The list of over-the-counter drugs will be published later by the Ministry of Health.
