Spain will test new cotton varieties in Uzbekistan

The working group of the Cotton Council under the President of Uzbekistan visited this country on August 1-4 in order to study the experience of advanced research institutes and companies in the field of Spanish cotton seed production and establish cooperation with them. This was reported by "Dunya" agency.

During the visit, he met with the leaders of Eurosemillas, Dafisa, Valenzuela y Cia, which are considered to be the leading Spanish companies in innovative seed production. During the meeting, they got acquainted with the cotton varieties created by Spanish companies, which are resistant to abnormally high temperatures and drought.

In cooperation with the foreign side, the Scientific-Research Institute of Cotton Selection, Seeding and Cultivation Agrotechnologies, Genomics and Bilinformatics Center, conducting tests of the most suitable and high-yielding cotton varieties for the climate of Uzbekistan, based on them, local Agreements were reached on the creation of hybrid varieties with varieties and the establishment of a cotton seed breeding station in cooperation with the Center of Agricultural Crops and Seed Science.

At the same time, AGQ Labs International, one of Spain's leading companies providing laboratory services in the fields of agriculture, food, environment, mining and health, was met. The company's capabilities equipped with the latest modern laboratory equipment and patented analysis methods were closely familiarized.

As a result of the negotiations, a preliminary agreement was reached on the development of a joint laboratory center with the foreign side in cooperation with the scientific-research institute of agricultural technologies of cotton selection, seeding and cultivation in Uzbekistan.
