South Korean President Calls for Reestablishment of Ties with North

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has called for the restoration of broken ties with Pyongyang. He made the statement at the National Security Council meeting he chaired for the first time since taking office.
"Inter-Korean peace is the most realistic and practical way to ensure our national security," President Lee said.
He stressed the need to establish stable and long-term relations with North Korea. He also called for a broad discussion on issues related to the North to prevent military and political dangers in the changing international situation.
Lee Jae-myung said he would promote the principles of dialogue, trust, and coexistence for the stability of the peninsula.
