Judge Shin Jong-oh, who extended the prison term of former South Korean first lady Kim Gong-hee, has been found dead.
The 55-year-old judge's body was found in an area near the Seoul Supreme Court building. A suicide note was found on his body, but it did not mention any court case. Police are investigating the incident, and the possibility of suicide is being considered.
The judge extended Kim Gong-hee's prison term by four years on April 29. He was found guilty of stock price manipulation and bribery. The sentence on charges related to former President Yun Seok-yol's imposition of martial law in 2024 was extended to seven years.
